Baby Bootie Card Repost

Happy Easter. Since it is a holiday I decided I am going to repost one of my very first craft projects. I have improved on my photography a lot since I started this blog about 7 months ago. I wanted to make this baby card again so I am adding new photos of the project. This is a fun card to make, and you do not need a cutting machine. You just download my hand drawn template and cut out. It is fun to make it in different patterned papers. Just click on the original link for more detailed instructions.

Here are the original post for detailed directions: http://craftingrebellion.blogspot.com/2011/09/handmade-baby-bootie-card.html

Here are the basic instructions:

Download the template for the Baby Bootie and the Baby Bootie insoles.

Template #1 the Outer Bootie and strap

Template #2 The insole

Print out onto card stock. I cut my decorative 12" x 12" inch paper to 8.5" x 11"

I used black card stock for the insole and patterned scrapbook paper for the bootie and strap.

Cut out the designs.

Attach a piece of card stock to your plain card using tape runner.

Attach the baby booties to the card using tape runner.

Attach the baby bootie insole using tape runner.

Attach the straps with tape runner on just the ends (so the strap pops up), or with a glue dot.

Stick on an embellishment to the strap.

Uptown Witch Shoes Card

I want to first give a big thanks to our new members, and to those of you who have put my projects on Stumbleupon, Tumblr, and Pinterest. You really rock! We are a very new blog so it has been amazing to get your support. I appreciate you spreading the Craftingrebellion word!

OK so shoes for a Halloween card?... I have to confess I have a major thing for shoe cards, so I had to make a Halloween pair. The card is fun to make, and just like our Baby Booties Card the beauty is in the embellishment. Use bows, brads, or dimensional stickers for the shoe clips. The bat shoes are embellished with bats and a purse cut out from the Cricut cutter. If you would like to see any Cricut crafts on our site let me know by leaving a message in the comments section.

I am going to show you how to make the shoe card with the stamped spider web.

For this card project you will need:

Blank card
Halloween Themed Paper
Black and White card stock
Inkadinkado Clear Stamps "All Hallow's Eve"
Ribbon and Embellishments for Shoes

Start by cutting a piece of black card stock 1/4" smaller than your card. In my case my card is 6.5" x 5" so my black card stock is 6 1/4" x 4 3/4"

Cut a piece of white card stock 1/4' smaller than the black.

Stamp a Spider web and spider in the upper corner (left or right). Stamp a Happy Halloween saying in the lower right corner.

Attach your white card stock to the black card stock and tape runner onto your card.

Cut out two pieces of Halloween themed paper for your shoe 1 1/2" x 4 1/2"

Cut two pieces of black card stock the same size.

Layer your two Halloween papers together and trim one end to a point.

Next round out the opposite side.

Curve the sides inward. Trim until you like the way your shoe looks.

Place one of the halloween papers on top of the two black pieces and cut them the same size.

Take your black pieces and cut the sides and back about 1/8" smaller.

When you get to the top edge of the point curve upward cutting off the triangle point. See photo below. You can also curve in the opposite direction.

Attach your insoles to your shoes with tape runner.

Attach your shoes to your card with tape runner. You can attach them flat, or use two pop dots on the heel and so it make the heels raised up. I did this on the skeleton shoes.

Cut two pieces of ribbon approximately 3" long. Put tape runner or glue dots on the reverse side and fold the ribbon ends together to create a bow. Attach a smaller ribbon around the bow with tape runner.

Attach your bows to the shoes with a glue dot. Or use a brad or dimensional sticker instead of a bow.

Cut out two small narrow strips of the Halloween paper and attach as shoe straps. (optional)

Send your cute Halloween shoes to a stylish friend!

Purse Sized Notebook Pad

When I put this project together I became very excited about sharing it with you. It is fun, easy to make, and it makes a brilliant little gift! You make the notebook pad using a pack of 3"x5" index cards. I bought my pack of 100 index cards at King Soopers for .99 cents. The dollar store has them 2 packs for a $1. You can make 2 books out of one pack of index cards. I prefer my books a little thicker so I used 2 packs of index cards to make 3 books. The really nice thing about this project is that you only need two 3"x5"pieces of scrapbook paper so it is a great use for those cute paper scraps! Once you start making these little notebook pads you can't seem to stop.

You only need a few supplies for this project:

1 pack of 3"x5" index cards
1 piece of flat stretch elastic (you can get a package of this at Hobby Lobby or Joann's or you can recycle using an elastic headband)
1 Binder Ring (I bought a multi box of colored ones at Staples for $2)
Scrapbook Paper
Tape Runner or Double sided Tape
Cropadile or Hole Punch
Optional Dye ink to distress the edges of your covers (I use Cats eye Charcoal or Chestnut Roan)
Ribbon
Charm (optional) to attach to the ring
Embellishments

Open your pack of index cards and make a stack about 1/2" deep. You can also take your pack and separate into 2 stacks. Take 2 cards and set them aside to use for the front and back cover.
Cut 2 pieces of decorative paper 3"x5"
Apply to the lined sides of 2 index cards using tape runner or double sided tape.
Optional Distress around the edges of your front and back cover. This will remove any sign of white card in case you didn't line up your edge perfectly. Some Notebook Pads I distressed, some I did not.

Take the front cover and a small stack of cards and align them and punch a hole in the top left corner. Continue punching the entire stack this way by taking one of the punched cards putting it on top of another stack of cards and punch to do the entire stack. I use a cropadile hole punch tool as it punches through a pretty good sized chunk of cards, but any hole punch is fine.

Attach your Binder Ring to your stack of cards.
Measure a piece of flat elastic around the notebook slightly overlapping and cut. I use thin flat elastic that was from the sewing area at hobby Lobby. I also used an elastic headband cut in half

Attach Elastic to the Back Cover of the book (remove back cover from the binder if needed) by stapling the two overlapped pieces together centered about 1" from the side. I used a mini stapler but any stapler is fine. Trim any extra elastic and put the back cover back on the binder and slide your elastic band around the notebook. (Another option is to staple a ribbon and tie it in the front of the book).
Don't worry if you staple your elastic a little too loose or tight by accident, just add or remove some cards.

Your Purse Sized Notebook Pad is done and now you are ready to embellish! Have fun making it unique!

Tie pieces of ribbon to the binder ring
Attach a charm to the ring
Embellish with chipboard letters or flowers.
Tie a ribbon to a paper clip and clip it in the book so ribbon comes out of the top of the book

Some Gift ideas for your Purse sized Notebook Pads:
Put your notebook pad in a cellophane bag with a clever pen and you have a brilliant little gift!
Hostess gifts
Bride or Mom to be and have the shower guests write wishes or have guests bring a 3"x5" recipe card to put in the book for a great little Recipe Book.
Make one for a teacher and have students write a message on each card as a thank you
Nice for Students and Coworkers

Skull Stamped Cards

Todays card project inspiration comes from a little gift my Husband brought home today. A fun skull print pair of knee socks from Sock it to Me www.sockittomesocks.com He is running the Rock N' Roll Marathon in Denver this weekend and picked them up at the expo.

I was in the card making mood so I used my Fiskars "Ink" "Skin and Bones" clear stamp set. I stamped "you Rock" and "Happy Birthday Wild Child" on the inside of the cards. Here are the easy step by step instructions to recreate them:

You need :
Femme Fatale Paper Pad by Recollections (find at Michael's stores) Paper (my current fav-very Betsey Johnson feel to the papers with zebra, leopard, lipstick kisses, and grunge florals).
"Bling on a roll" scrapbook tape by Recollections also from Michaels stores.
Padlock dimensional sticker by Jolee's Boutique
Fuskars "Ink" "skin and Bones" acrylic Stamp Set
Stick on gemstones and Bows

Card #1 (vertical) Cut a piece of lipstick card stock 1/2" smaller than your card. I chose the part of the lipstick pattern pattern paper that had black swirls on it. Distress the edges of the paper with charcoal cats eye ink and apply to the card with your tape runner. Apply two pieces of "bling on a roll" decorative tape near the top of the card. I also used this tape on the project Crazy Clips. Tie a ribbon around the dimensional padlock sticker and attach. Stamp the skull image onto white card stock with burgandy or black ink. Cut out and distress the edges with charcoal cats eye ink. Apply with pop dots to a piece of black card stock cut 1/2" bigger and attach to the card with tape runner.

Card #2 (Horizontal) Cut a piece of damask paper from Femme Fatale paper pad 1/2" smaller than your card and apply with tape runner. Cut a piece of black card stock about 3" wide. Punch the edge with Martha Stewart's "Drippy Goo" edge punch. I just bought this punch and love it! It is the first side punch I have bought. Apply the black punched card stock to the left side of the card with tape runner. Apply two pieces of "bling on a roll" tape over the black card stock. I used pink and black/silver tape. Apply 3 rows of stick on gems. Stamp the skull image with black ink on white card stock. Cut out and distress the edges with charcoal cats eye ink. Cut a piece of black card stock 1/2" bigger and apply the skull with tape runner. Attach the mini card to the background with pop dots. Use a glue dot to attach a little black bow.

Card #3 Created for the ColourQ Challenge using this week's colors:

=

Card #3 Cut a piece of card stock 1/2" smaller than your card. Combine several of the little stamps from the Fiskars "Skin and Bones" set to your clear stamp base and create a patterned background paper by stamping them 3 or 4 times onto the paper with black ink. Distess the edges of your paper again with the charcoal cats eye ink and attach to the card with tape runner. Layer 4 strips of paper at the bottom of the card using your tape runner. I used black, zebra, pear, and brown paper strips. Stamp "Happy Birthday" from the Stampin Up set "Grunge Rock" and "Wild Child" from the "Skin and Bones" set onto green paper. Cut out and distress with charcoal cats eye ink. Stamp the skull image onto white card stock and cut out. Apply skull to the green card stock. Cut a strip of black card stock and punch with Martha Stewart's "Drippy Goo" edge punch. Attach to the green paper from behind. Cut out a piece of black card stock 1/2" larger than the green card and apply with pop dots. Attach with tape runner and use a glue dot to attach a black bow to the skull head.

Crazy Clips

I love making Crazy Clip clothespins. They can be found in drawers all over my house. I use them as chip clips, memo board clips, paper clips, bookmarks, cello bag clips, and on top of a wrapped present as a label holder. You can even glue a magnet to the back and use them as a fridge clip. Not only are they cute gifts to give but they qualify for the crafting Big 3...1. Fast 2. Useful 3. Cheap! at $1.59 for a box of 50 clothespins you easily can make 10-12 gift sets. They are great for home show gifts, shower prizes, girl scout crafts, and little treats for teachers, friends, and coworkers. I'm going to show you how to make them two different ways. First using paper scraps (a great use for your leftover scrapbooking/cardmaking papers) or ribbon, and second using decorative adhesive tape.

You only need a few supplies:
1 box of wooden clothespins (I purchased at Target for $1.59 for box of 50)
Double sided permanent tape
Paper scraps or
Ribbon or
Decorative adhesive Tape-I use Recollections "glitter tape" and"bling on a role" tape
E6000 Glue or Hot Glue
Embellishments: Dimensional stickers, buttons, paper flowers, charms etc.

Attach a piece of double sided tape to the clip lining it up along one side. It can be longer than the clip since you will be trimming it anyway

Line up the clip onto the backside of your paper. It is easiest if one side of the paper is cut straight so you can line it up perfectly.

Trim around the other side and ends. Repeat other side. Done!

Do the same steps for applying ribbon being careful to smooth well and use sharp scissors when trimming to avoid fraying.

Even easier is scrapbooking/cardmaking tape. I used Recollections "bling on a roll". Line tape along one side, and trim.

Apply Embellishments. I used Jolee's Boutique dimensional stickers for the halloween, skulls, and zebra print hearts. Just rub the foam adhesive off of the back of the stickers and secure them to the clip with a strong adhesive like E6000 or Hot Glue. I attach them about 1/3 up from the bottom of the clip. I also use charms, buttons, and fabric flowers.

Packaging: Take a piece of two sided paper and trim to about 6 1/2 inches wide. Fold up the paper part way and staple on both sides. Attach a label describing some of the clips many uses.

PS If you to sew I found a great demonstration making the clips with fabric (use up your fabric scraps) with a fabric poof embellishment ahttp://www.creaturecomfortsblog.com/home/2010/6/2/diy-fancy-clothespins.html  Surprisingly they also use double sided tape for attaching the fabric. Easy!

Clutch Style Gift Card Holder

I love to make gifts, but sometimes a gift card is the best gift to give. With the Holiday's approaching now is a great time to make our Clutch Style Gift Card Holders. This gift card holder is like a little purse and super easy to make. Just like our Baby Bootie Card Project the joy is in picking out paper and embellishments to express your style. Have fun embellishing yours with trinkets, flowers, gems, buttons, or bows to give your little purse some style.

This project is fast and easy:

 You will need:
Scrapbook Paper
Tape Runner Glue
Velcro (Optional)
Embellishment for your purse button

Cut two pieces of paper
The main purse color 4 1/4" x 7 1/4"
The Border paper 4 1/2" x 7 1/2"

Take a corner rounder punch and round the corners on both papers on ONE SIDE
If you do not have a corner you can take scissors and round your corners

Attach the main paper to the border paper with a tape runner type glue. (both round ends on same side). Now you have one paper.

Now Fold up the bottom of the paper  (the unrounded side) 1 3/4"

Adhere along the inside Sides with a tape runner. Only put tape runner along the sides so you create a pocket. If your paper is very thick (like cardstock) you may need to use strong glue and clamp the sides until dry. I have also used one small staple on each side. The mini staples are barely noticeable. Scrapbook paper is usually OK with just tape runner.

Use a bone folder or run your finger nail along the fold lines to make them crisp. If the top pops open a bit you have two choices. You can go the very nice way and attach a very small piece of velcro to the inside flap of the card to create a velcro opening. I like to cut a small piece and attach to the inside upper flap leaving the other half of the velcro still attached. Then I peel off the backing off of that piece and press the card together and it sticks to the other side so the pieces match perfectly. You can also use a little repositionable adhesive to hold the flap down, or tie a ribbon around the clutch.

Lastly pick your Clutch embellishment to give it some character. You can attach in the middle of the flap or on the edge so it overlaps like the lock. FYI if you do choose a sticker embellishment like this lock you will need to scrap the sticky foam off the back of it with your fingernail since you don't want it to stick the card closed. I used some mini glue dots on the top of the lock.

Handmade Baby Bootie Card

This Baby bootie shoe card is so much fun to make because of the endless paper and embellishment options you can use to create your booties. Boy, girl, sweet, sassy, punk, try making one of each to keep on hand for a new baby, shower, or 1st birthday card. Attach one of our Rockin' baby sayings to the card, stamp, or print your own saying. Any way you make it, it will sure to be a card that is remembered.
Its easy to make several booties at once and create several cards quickly. Lets get started.

First click on the following links to download the template you will use to print and cut your booties.  When you click on the links they take you to www.mediafire a document storage site. Make sure you click the Mediafire click here to download file button. If you get a flashing yellow "download now" button to the far left of the mediafire download button in ad space, don't click on it. It will say "survey" first which is really an ad. The Mediafire download button is on the right of the page, and it is safe and secure to download any documents.

Template #1 the Outer Bootie and strap

Template #2 The insole

Template # 3 Rockin' Baby sayings (optional)

Decide on a paper you would like for the bootie. In the examples I use a leopard print and a damask print. Smaller prints tend to work better. If you are using scrapbook 12x12 paper cut it to 8 1/2 x 11 on your paper cutter. One great pack of paper to try for the card is Michael's 8.5 x 11 wild pattern paper and at only $3.00 a pack on sale it is great for other card making crafts. It has different colored leopard and zebra prints. (I used this paper for the Handmade Hair Pins card backs). The damask and polka dot paper is also from Michaels. Once you have your main paper chosen pick a CONTRASTING paper that will act as the insole and:

Print template #1 on the REVERSE side of the Main patterned paper.

Print Template #2-Print on the REVERSE side of your CONTRASTING paper

Cut out your booties and straps. Don't worry if you're not exact, just try to cut along the line. The insole is slightly trickier to cut, use smaller scissors if you have them, but again don't worry if it's not perfect. In the following picture the leopard paper was on the other side of this two sided paper.

Use a good tape runner type scrapbooking glue (I use Tombo MONO adhesive) to attach the insoles to the bootie.

If you would like a shadow around your booties use your tape runner and glue the booties to black paper and cut around the booties approximately 1/4". (You do not need to do this step, sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. The step generally makes the booties pop a little more off the card but again you don't have to do it.

Now you have a pair of booties with an insole and a shadow. Cut a piece of paper for the background of your card. I find simple background patterns work well with wild pattern booties, and simple booties need a wild background paper. I used premade 6 1/2 x 5 inch card from Michael's. They come in a pack of 25 with envelopes. You can certainly cut and score your own. I like easy so I usually buy the packs when they offer them 1/2 off.

Now cut  your background paper 6" x 4 1/2 "

Attach the background paper to the card with your tape runner

Attach the booties to the card with your tape runner.
If you are going to use a brad as the bootie strap embellishment you will need to attach the strap (shown next) push the brad through THEN attach the whole things to the card with a tape runner so you do not have a brad poking through the card. But if you plan on using embellishments like bows, button, stick on gems etc. follow the next steps.

Attach your straps buy using a tiny glue dot on each side of the strap or use glue runner. Make sure to just put it on the sides. The straps will pop up if you do. If you want them to lie flat then tape runner the whole strap and attach.

Now the FUN part...

Embellish the side strap with bows, gems, buttons, paper flower etc. I had a pack of tiny press on bows I found in the scrapbooking area at JOAnnes that I used for the bows on the booties. Cut and tie your own ribbon though and attach with a glue dot just as easily. Make sure to use a glue dot instead of flimsy stick on glue that comes on many scrapbook embellishments.

You can also
print out our Rockin Baby sayings to use on the card
Print the sayings out on any plain paper (I have used white, pastel pink, blue, etc) and layout the saying and the booties onto the card before you glue everything down.
