Blog Lovin'

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend!
Todays "Blog Lovin'" is Creatively Living at http://blah2beautiful.blogspot.com/
I like to check this blog out for great decorating ideas that are not only inexpensive, but personal. Katie Goldsworthy definitely has the magic touch for turning a little into a lot. Her blog description says it all "We are a military family of 7, so houses must come big and inexpensive, and made beautiful as we go, turning what most would see as trash, into treasure".

This blog has great decorating and entertaining ideas, but I think one of the main reasons I like to check it out is for the photographs. They are always so beautiful, I want to know her secret to taking such stunning shots!

OK moving is great to force you to get rid of stuff. I am in purge mode and have a garage full to donate. It feels so good to purge! I needed a quick break from my packing so here are some fun web finds to check out.

I'm in the home stretch..one more week to go before our big move! My life right now is utter chaos with boxes everywhere. I so appreciate all your advice on the joys of moving. I will be back to crafting soon but in the meantime enjoy some more "Blog Lovin'".

Todays "Blog Lovin'" is http://tamicurbalert.blogspot.com/  I think Tami was one of my first readers and one of the first to comment on my blog. You might know Tami as the famous inventor of the "door mat over the air vent" pinterest project. She was pinned thousands and thousands of times over for that one! Her blog is always full of inexpensive and useful projects.

If you paint furniture you probably already know about missmustardseed. If not it is full of useful information and inspiration for furniture painting and home decorating. The one great thing about moving is that I am getting the bug to decorate. I love her philosophy "move mountains in your home". It has really gotten me thinking about how I want to bring so much more of me and my creative works into my home as opposed to just buying commercially made things.

Say hello to “French Enamel”

’twas the night before Lucketts

DSC_1783 (424x640)
Well, here it is...Lucketts Eve.  I am about as nervous and excited as a kid before Christmas.  I've been preparing and shopping for weeks and I'm now just over 12 hours away from the event.  Whew. We dropped our stuff off at Lucketts yesterday, but it's just stacked under a tent, not arranged in any particular fashion.  I know it's going to be a frenzie to get it all set up tomorrow, so …

Say hello to “Mustard Seed”

DSC_1740 (424x640) (2)
Come on...what else could I name the yellow in my milk paint line?  Yep.  It's "Mustard Seed" yellow. It's sort of a warm honey, muted mustard color.  I started out with a stronger yellow, but it looked more like school bus than mustard seed, so I had to go back to the drawing (mixing) board and I'm happy with where I landed.  I think it's a perfect yellow for a piece of furniture.  … [Read more...]

Say hello to “Tricycle”

DSC_1721 (424x640)
Well, I am totally whipped.  I have actually resorted to giving myself pep talks over the last couple of days.  "Ok, Marian.  Just paint this dresser.  That's all you need to do right now, then you can focus on the next thing."  I have made everyone promise to force me to get in bed early tonight.  The truck is loaded (I can't believe I filled a 17' truck!), I'm finished with all of my … [Read more...]

I don't live in a hip manhattan apartment, or flat in London, but I think this interior design and do it yourself blog brings a little inspiration to my suburban home. I appreciate the use of big design into small spaces. Regardless if your home is big or small, city, or country you can always find a gem of an idea here.

It is a grand thing for kids to have a multitude of books, but not always so grand when it comes to storage. We are always on the lookout for fresh takes on book management. Here is one created for a playroom that is simple to make, inexpensive and looks great filled with a bunch of children's books. MORE

Check out todays "Blog Lovin'"  http://truebluemeandyou.tumblr.com/

I first found Truebluemeandyou because the writer found me. The writer  featured one of my first projects "rockin hair clips". The blog immediately caught my eye because of its fresh, and interesting crafts. The writer describes her Tumblr blog as a catalog of unique crafts that she truly loves and would do herself. What you can expect is the unexpected. Everyday you can find new, hip, and youthful crafts. What you won't see is stale or repeated crafts. In fact I judge my creativity by this site. If I get a craft featured I feel like I stretched my creative self. No post for a long period of time reminds me that I may not be utilizing my creativity enough.

Just made myself a pair of “‘MERICA” shorts as my first summer diy project. I found myself a pair of shorts I didn’t love and sewed on an old linin american flag decoration.
Can’t wait for july now!

Truebluemeandyou: Love this idea. Could do it with lots of flags.
